不知何時開始，香港社交媒體有種現象，每逢一些特色老字號忽然傳出結業，數日內，忽然會有一陣人潮現身，把握最後機會致敬和打卡，完事後老字號俏然落幕，然後，就再也沒有然後。不要誤會，我不是要作任何批評，開始有時、終結有時，更何況在所謂「寸金尺土」的香港？但如果這些支持，能夠不要等到「最後一刻」，平日就已蛻變出可持續的商業模式，對店方和顧客豈不是更理想？ 香港令人不捨的事物，除了食店和冰室，本地文化出版業當中，包括不少獨立書店、獨立作者，其實都可歸類這種「值得保育」的行列，今天就說一個嘗試用科技來拯救整個出版業的故事。 香港作家董啟章 董啟章網站「董富記」，取名來自阿爺董富 1961 年於水埗基隆街開業的針車零件及五金工件店舖 香港小說家董啟章，曾任中學教師，自 1992 年開始發表作品，作品包括《天工開物·栩栩如真》、《時間繁史·啞瓷之光》和《地圖集》等。在 1994 年，董啟章贏得聯合文學小說新人獎，正式加入台灣文壇，由於香港出版業不景氣，他小說都在台灣出版，計起上來，台灣讀者人數可能比香港讀者還要多一些。 哈佛大學榮休教授李歐梵將對董啟章評價極高，認為他的作品讓小說跨足知識書寫的領域，哈佛大學東亞語言與文明系講座教授王德威更稱「在中國也沒有一位像董啟章這樣的作家，將香港作為書寫主題本身就帶有標誌性的色彩。」 出版產業困局 《天工開物 · 栩栩如真》是董啟章寫香港平凡人家的三代生活，糅合了個人成長史、家族變遷史和香港百年發展史 2006 年，《天工開物‧栩栩如真》在台灣的版稅每本可收取 10 港幣，全年賣了約五千本。因此，當時以寫作為全職的董啟章一年賺到 5 萬港幣，這份收入對一位受到專業肯定和讀者支持的「職業」小說作者而言，談不上理想。 最近董啟章決定以 NFT 方式將書重新出版，他解釋本地作者和出版社面對的困局：「無論是實體書還是電子書，在『作者—出版社—發行商—銷售商—讀者』這條鏈上，發行和銷售佔去了不成比例的收益，並擁有操縱市場的巨大力量。作者收入微乎其微，出版社慘淡經營，而讀者的選擇權也受到限制。」 事實上，我自己也從不同角色參與過出版工作，在人工智能生成式內容襲來之時（當然也有一些新機會），這行業若再不謀求突破，恐怕屆時回天乏力。以自資和獨立出版為例，其實很多人願意出書，但求書店可以買到，可是實體書銷售通路難行、或「做不到」，電子書甚至 NFT 書也許是條出路？ NFT 書？ Sze Wong 是 Zerion Software CEO，也是 iFormBuilder 移動平台的創建者，他寫書分享初創應避免外部融資、以及如何執行 bootstrap 優先、緩慢增長的原則… Continue Reading →
