數全球必爭之產業，今天非半導體莫屬！但大家可曾想過，原來香港也曾擁有世界級的微電子和半導體產業？2004 年在香港主板上市的晶門半導體，當年就是一隻隱形的「無冕獨角獸」，但後來大環境轉變，亦一度陷入低迷時期。時至近年晶門把握物聯網機遇，終於走出困局、扭虧為盈！其故事對香港的創科前路是否也具有一些啟發性？不如聽聽晶門半導體行政總裁兼執行董事王華志細說這段奇幻旅程。 港產龍珠晶片 香港的微電子業起步於上世紀 60 年代。初時主要是電子鐘、電子錶和原子粒收音機等電子產品。後來受惠於大廠 Motorola 的引入和投資，香港開始發展出半導體晶片產業，而萬力半導體（Motorola 旗下企業）也成為當時香港最大的晶片公司，在港開設了三座半導體測試和裝配工廠，其中一座位於大埔的「矽港中心」，更是亞洲第二大的半導體測試及裝配中心之一，每周可測試 520 萬枚晶片。 萬力半導體的明星產品「龍珠晶片」，不僅 Made in Hong Kong，更成為流動通訊裝置的核心，例如 Motorola A6188 能以手寫筆操控，結合了手機和 PDA 功能，當年堪稱劃時代產物。後來不少大受歡迎的流動電話，都採用了港產龍珠晶片及其後繼產品。可惜的是，由於香港的土地和人力成本高昂，2002 年萬力半導體宣布將大部分生產線遷往天津，結束在港逾 30 年生產歷程。 2000 年代初期，晶門的彩色手機螢幕驅動晶片具領導地位，出貨量曾佔全球七分一 顯示部門分柝 同一時間，萬力半導體麾下的專做 LCD 驅動器的顯示部門，有大約 33 位員工在港另組公司晶門科技（晶門半導體的子公司），繼續為 Motorola 提供顯示驅動器，用於傳呼機和手機等裝備。「最初從萬力分拆出來，總部設在觀塘創紀之城。後來為了追求「群聚效應」、與其他科技企業保持緊密聯繫，於是搬入沙田科學園區。」晶門半導體有限公司行政總裁兼執行董事王華志表示。 基於 Motorola 當時全球第二大的「根基」，晶門的驅動晶片一度佔整個手機市場近 20%的 份額。名噪一時的 Razor… Continue Reading →
