政府干預市場,單方面實施市區的士「短加長減」收費,扭曲市場,隨即出現紅的中長線反比新界綠的便宜的情況,間接導致紅的向綠的搶客,繼而觸發今次的罷駛事件。

另一方面,報稱紅的司機表示新例實施後,失意損失三、四成之多。更抵死係,運輸署竟然係機場派發單張,主動「好心地」幫乘客格價,鼓勵市民乘搭紅的。結果挑起綠的司機的怒火。
