CUHK researchers, in collaboration with Shenzhen and Guangxi universities, have developed a groundbreaking photothermal microrobot (CBMR) to treat hard-to-reach sinus infections. These copper-doped BiOI robots navigate via magnetic fields to infection sites and use visible light to activate powerful antibacterial reactions. Lab results showed a dramatic drop in bacterial survival and safe tissue response, offering a novel, minimally invasive solution for chronic infections.
