Alibaba plans to spin off its autonomous driving subsidiary Banma Network Technology through an IPO on the Hong Kong exchange, reducing its stake from 44.72% to 30%. This marks Alibaba’s first substantial spin-off in years and could help attract sector-focused investors to its smart mobility unit. Since 2016, Banma has been integrating Alibaba’s AliOS system into autonomous vehicles, and the IPO aims to boost its transparency and market profile.
