HKUST has unveiled an AI-powered imaging breakthrough that generates detailed 3D skeletal models using only 2–4 X-rays — slashing radiation exposure by 99% compared to CT scans. Developed by Professor Xiaomeng Li’s team, the tech targets surgical planning and medical 3D printing, aiming to cut costs and waiting times. Clinical trials will begin soon at local public hospitals.
